31 Day Challenge: Day 22

12 10 2013

Hi there! This day’s task was to create a mani inspired by a song. I used Lady Gaga’s Pokerface as my inspiration. I took a some what literal interpretation and painted the four suits.

31 Day Challenge: Day 19

25 08 2013

Hey there! I used a great tutorial by Chalkboard Nails in order to create my galaxy mani. I used her advise and started with a black based and then sponged on the different colors.

I started with two coats of NYC Black Lace. I then sponged OPI Can’t Find My Czechbook, OPI Do You Lilac It?, OPI Tomorrow Never Dies, and OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls pretty much in that order on each nail. I sponged a little more My Boyfriend Scales Walls than I wanted on my index finger so I went back over with Can’t Find My Czechbook and Do You Lilac It? I finished with OPI I Juggle…Men so that it sparkled.

This was a fun mani to do because it didn’t take much skill. I was able to complete this mani on both my left and right hands easily. I want to create another galaxy mani that is more red, that will be my next challenge.

31 Day Challenge: Day 18

24 08 2013

Hey there! I’m trying to catch up on my challenge posts so I will be attempting to post twice a day.

I had no idea how I should paint half moons on my nails so I did a bit of Googling. I found that most half moon manicures were representations of the lunula. I started with two coats of OPI Number One Nemesis. I then used a nail art brush to paint OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls at the base of my nails.

This was an easy manicure to complete, but I was not necessarily happy with the uniformity of my half circles. I would have redone my index finger to make the half moon more narrow and round, but I didn’t have time.

31 Day Challenge: Day 11

27 07 2013

Hi there! I have done this look previously because it is so easy. I used a pin head before I got my dotting tools. I like the variety of sizes that dotting tools offer, but in a pinch a pin works great.

For this I started with two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. After letting that dry I used three different sized dotting tools to add OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok fine, OPI Suzi Takes The Wheel, and OPI Thanks A Windmillion.

I love dotting. It’s a technique I can actually do on both hands since it takes little coordination from my left.
