31 Day Challenge: Day 5

21 07 2013

Hi there! I rarely do blue manis because I feel that they don’t suit me, but day 5 of the challenge was blue. I used a dusty, shimmery polish, OPIs Sahara Sapphire. I like this color, but as with any other frosty shimmery OPI, it is a bit streaky. Also, ridge lines in the nail can be seen. If I had a ridge filling base coat I would have used it.

One week of summer vacation left. Booooo. I should probably get to the beach or pool one more time before I have to get back to the grind.

31 Day Challenge: Day 4

20 07 2013

Hi there. For day 4 I used this lovely minty color, OPI’s Gargantuan Green Grape. I have seen online a variety of shades for this particular polish. I picked up mine in person, so I was sure of what I was getting. It’s a lot lighter than I would want in a mint green, but it makes for a great work polish.

This challenge post happens to coincide with Mint Manis for Talia Joy. Please share your mint manis for Talia on Facebook, Instagram, etc. using the hashtags #MintManisforTalia and #TaliasLegacy. Talia was an inspiration to all.

31 Day Challenge: Day 3

19 07 2013

Hey there! I used an awesome glitter polish for day 3 of the challenge. OPI GoldenEye as the name obviously states is a glittery gold. I used 3 coats for this polish.

I forgot to mention that my goal is to only use OPI nail polishes to complete each day of this challenge. We’ll see how that goes as the tasks become progressively harder.

31 Day Challenge: Day 2

18 07 2013

Hi there! For day 2 of the challenge I used a polish that I have never worn. I picked this up at my local beauty supply on the sale shelf. It was the first orange in my collection. OPI Clubbing Til Sunrise is a shimmery orange.

At the start of my polish purchasing, I had no preference in finish. As I have become more interested in nail art, I’m finding that I am favoring creme polishes. I don’t think that I will stop purchasing shimmer or glitter polishes all together, but I think that my collection will be predominately creme eventually.

Thanks for stopping by!

31 Day Challenge: Day 1

17 07 2013

Sorry I haven’t yet begun to post my 31 day challenge nails. Currently I’m on day 17, but I will try to post daily what I used for each challenge.

The first few days are really simple, well at least I kept them simple. For day 1 I used Glove You So Much from OPIs 2009 holiday collection. I love this red because it is such a dark cool toned red

Hello!

14 07 2013

The first post in my nail polish only blog!

I’ve decided to begin my own polish blog after a few years of following a few polish and beauty blogs.  In the beginning I used to buy any nail polish brand based on my interest in the color. I had very few polishes in my collection, a couple Revlons and Sally Hansens. I only used to do my nails on special occasions  because I was cheerleading in high school (we weren’t allowed to have long nails), then a college student. I bought my first OPI polish just after I graduated from college, Dazzle Me. I didn’t buy another OPI polish for about a year.

Fast forward eight years and now I am obsessed with OPI nail polishes. I frequent nail blogs that review and swatch the new collections. I have purchased mainly soft shades, reds, pinks, and purples because these are my go to work shades. I usually only purchase dark shades for my pedicures.

I began the 31 day challenge I found on chalkboardnails.com at the beginning of this month. The tasks for the challenge could not be completed without me purchasing some new nail polishes in colors that I would not normally buy. Initially I was only posting photos of each day to my personal Facebook, but I want to be able to describe my process and thoughts throughout the challenge. This motivated me to create my own blog. In the coming days I will be posting how I completed each day of the challenge.
